After a stringent presentation before the jury, MATECIA Building Material Exhibition was conferred with the “Star Debut Show Award” at the Exhibition Excellence Awards 2023 in a scintillating gathering at the India Expo Mart Noida, SURFACES REPORTER (SR) fills in the details.

But there can be only one winner and that is MATECIA 2022”

They were overjoyed to find MATECIA nominated as a star debutant alongside prestigious events like India Gem & Jewellery Show (GJS) 2022, Silver Show of India 2022, IndiAirport 2023, INDIA EV 2022, and PackMach Asia 2022. Each finalist had meticulously designed an event dedicated to their area of expertise and it was evident in the presentations they had made.

One year ago, MATECIA was born as a dream, and it continues to shine in 2023 on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th September at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The idea behind MATECIA in 2022 was to create an event addressing the multiple needs of the architecture, design, and construction fraternity. Impeccable planning and effort ensured that the first edition of MATECIA materialized on time. A detailed market research was conducted to arrive at solutions, and the industry responded favorably with leading 207 exhibitors & sponsors joining the debut edition.

Vertica Divivedi elaborated on the idea behind the exhibition, stating that MATECIA in 2022 was conceived to cater to the diverse requirements of the architecture, design, and construction community.

Debut events are bound to have some shortcomings, but MATECIA’s advantage lies in being managed by professionals with over 20 decades of experience and the team behind popular magazines like Surfaces Reporter, Ply Reporter and Furniture Design & Technology. Their expertise led to innovative approaches; including knowledge sessions, LIVE product launches, and meaningful phygital connections from the outset.

MATECIA’s success is also attributed to concurrent events like WADE ASIA and IIR (India Interior Retailing Conference and Awards). WADE ASIA stands out as the only event acknowledging women-led-development in architecture, design, engineering, and construction. Similarly, IIR catering to the retail segment focuses on industry-relevant topics and enables companies to connect with the right market partners. Here is the official statement released by the MATECIA Exhibition management:

“Many of you wanted to know why the dates of MATECIA and WADE ASIA events are shifted. Well, it is not what we wanted to do or needed to do. India holds the Presidency of the G20 Leaders Summit this year and the venue of the event is Pragati Maidan Delhi. As a sudden unprecedented development due to G20 summit, Government of India needed the venue for the entire month of August and beyond. Several events were scheduled during this period. The smaller ones are managing in some other available halls while WADE ASIA due to its large size and scale could not accommodate in available options offered. Also, being a highend design event, WADE cannot compromise in terms of infrastructure. Pragati Maidan is full of events for the entire year so the next available slot was around the Christmas this year.

We rushed out to find other avenues but to not much of success. Fortunately we got a lot of support from venue management in availing dates in September from 22-24. So in the spirit of national interest we are taking this in a positive stride. Moving on is important.

We did not need the change. We did not want the change. We were prepared for the event. What is extremely painful for us is the major redoing, rebooking, reworking and the added cost. One thing that remains unshaken is the great support from industry and design fraternity. We deeply regret the inconvenience created by this change which is beyond our control and looking forward to your support in creating a Magnificiant MATECIA and Wonderful WADE ASIA again!”

Another frequently asked question is whether the old registration done this year will be valid for the new dates. The answer is yes.

MATECIA EXHIBITION will take place from 22-23-24 September 2023 at Pragati Maidan Delhi. You will see the display of more than 700+ products in 300000 sqft of space spread across 7 halls. This edition has a special Machinery Hall too. The Architecture Conference and India Interior Retailing (IIR) is accompanied by another special conference called the Furniture-Kitchen-Wardrobes-Summit. All the conferences are taking place in the first floor halls.
